Anyone tried this? I tried replacing bluetooth and multitouch extensions (.kext) in System...also some other bits; no joy...wouldn't boot after replacing some Frameworks so reverted back.

Magic Trackpad 2 requires El Capitan to function properly. Older macs, provided they are upgraded to El Capitan, will in general work. though I cannot say how old. But the key is El Capitan.
Definitely...no way of getting it to work, so I updated to El Capitan.
