Microsoft Word crashing and Outlook 2016 not opening

Dear support community,

I am really struggling, as my 2012 iMac with 24 GB ram keeps giving me grief with the use of Word and Outlook. I have updated from Office 2011 to 2016 in order to avoid certain problems I had before and now it's even worse. Word 2016 keeps crashing whenever I try saving any document. Either an existing one or by trying the "SAVE AS" function. Outlook won't even open anymore at all and I am lost for what to do.

I have only recently upgraded to El Capitan 10.11.3, after I had a new HDD installed. From what I read apparently the 10.11.1 update was supposed to have taken care of these crashing problems. As I am already running a newer version I wondered if the old update would be included in it? I tried manually to install 10.11.1, but the system would not let me do it.

If anybody has any ideas on how to fix these problems, I would be very thankful.

I understand the frustration when applications don't work correctly. I also see that the El Capitan v10.11.1 Update Improves compatibility with Microsoft Office 2016. Yet Word is not saving and Outlook won't run.

You asked if that update is included in the 10.11.3 update.

The Combo Update includes previous 10.11.x updates.
