Windows 10 Magic mouse + Keyboard disconnects randomly

Hey guys,

im a dentist and i have 7 imacs 21,5" bought on december 2015, and two 5k retina 27" also bought same date.

i have to use windows because of the special x-ray programms and the dentist-managment software.

there is a very annoying issue, all macs with windows 10 (bootcamp) (only in windows, osx works perfect) lose the connection to the mouse and the keyboard at the same time.

first the mouse disappear, then i get the message "mouse connection lost", then about 15 seconds later the message appear "keyboard connection lost" then i have to wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute, and i click some times, after that time it show " connected" for both devices.

it can happen every 2 days, some times it happens 3 time in 1 hour, its terrible, because it interrupts the workflow. the behaviour is on all machines the same. i tested windows 8.1 before, but it was the same problem.

i think its a driver crash of bluetooth so it lose connection to both devices.

i already have deactivated everything for power saving in energy managment, so windows cannot shut down devices to save energy, windows is on setting "maximal performance" in energy settings.

can anybody help?

If you had issues home and your practice both, and these devices are heavily used, what type of batteries are used and how often are they replaced/re-charged. The Apple rechargeable batteries start losing their charge retention in about 6-12 months. I use the original BT Keyboard/Mouse at work, and it is used 8-10 hours a day. I have a significant WiFi and BT energy around my work area, but I do not get disconnected.

Would you consider testing a USB Keyboard/Mouse?

no each mac has its own original mouse and keyboard it was shipped with. all mouse and keyboards were marked with little stickers on the underside for each mac.

its so frustrating, it happens now about 3-4 times a hour, i have to make a pram reset, go back to osx, then boot another time in windows, so i can work a few hours before it happen again.

The mice and keyboards are standard BT devices and can be paired to any device. Can I suggest the following?

1. Choose a specific iMac.

2. Un-pair both the Mouse and Keyboard from Windows.

3. Un-pair both the Mouse and Keyboard from OSX.

4. Pair both the Mouse and Keyboard with Windows first.

5. Pair both the Mouse and Keyboard with OS X second.

6. Test.

If this method gives you a stable connection, repeat on other iMacs, one at a time.

Hi,

I've exactly the same problem with my new iMac 21.5 4K, my magic keyboard 2 and magic trackad 2 on a fresh Windows 10 installation with Bootcamp (last version for El Capitan 10.11.4) : random disconnection of both keyboard and trackpad at the same time. It's very annoying!!!

Did you test the solution above : unpair from Windows, unpair from OS X, pair again with Windows and then with OS X? Does it work? Any other solution ?

I just bought my iMac 5K 27 inch a couple of weeks ago and had this same problem. I tried everything above but none of the answered worked for me. Until today I figured out how to fix this but only difference from OP is that I have Win 8.1 installed.

Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Show Additional Options and select High Performance.

That is what did the trick for me. By default windows was set to Balanced.
