How to remove chrome ZEUS virus
iMac with Retina 5K display, iOS 9.2.1
It's not a virus, it's a phishing scam malware. You can download and run Malwarebytes to remove unwanted cache and cookies if any were installed. Most of these scam are just web site screens made to look like they're not a web browser display. Close the browser and there gone, because they're not on your computer.

This is overtaking my MAC, it says its a windows based virus, it comes through the speaers saying i Have 5 minutes and my hard drive will be erased? Chrome cannot be forced quit. None of the windows can be closed. None of the tabs can be closed. And the alarm voice comes on. All I can do is turn off the machine, and later when I click on chrome it does the same thing...
Sooooo...was your hard drive erased? No, of course it wasn't. Force quit Chrome by clicking the Apple menu and selecting"Force Quit" then choose Chrome. If it's like Safari you can then restart while holding the shift key and things will return to normal. Be careful where you click or visit in the future.

Mike,
So are you saying that this virus scam does not need to be removed from the computer?
It's a rogue webpage - there's nothing downloaded to your computer there for you to remove. If you see these pages frequently then there may be adware that is redirecting your browser to those pages. But seeing them occasionally just means you were visiting some sites that were malicious or hacked.
If you suspect adware then follow Rysz's Malwarebytes recommendation.
I have not heard of that product, but many anti-virus programs degrade performance on a Mac and do not handle adware well.
I recommend Malwarebytes because it is non-invasive, running only when you tell it to. It used to be called AdwareMedic and was designed specifically to deal with adware. It was written by another contributor on these forums.
It's not a virus it's a scam. Don't call the number again. Try force quitting Chrome and restarting it while holding the shift key.
Mike,
So are you saying that this virus scam does not need to be removed from the computer?

Don't use any anti virus software, it isn't a virus and av software will do nothing except compromise performance of your Mac.
