Q: Raw support for ne Fuji models e.g. X Pro2

Just got my new X Pro2 by Fujifilm. There isn't any support at present for the new Raw format (still .RAF). The new X70 might well have the same issue. Will there be an update sometime soon? Let's hope so. Stephen

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.4), 10.8 actually

Apple never publishes in advance when new digital RAW support updates will be released.  You'# just have to wait and use the software provided by Fuji to develop your RAW files.

It doesn't signify much that the filename extension is still .RAF.

The filename extension is usually the same for all RAW formats by a certain manufacturer, but the digital RAW support is camera specific nevertheless.

Thank you I am aware of all that. I've owned 5 X series cameras to date. Just for your further information the iOS 'Photos' does recognise the files, which I have discovered since posting my original comment. So Apple have at least fixed that. Even Fujifilm UK did not understand things until today when I updated them. Silkypix will handle the files, as will the internal engine, and Lightroom 6 I am told.

AFAIK, the iOS viewer does not really develop the RAW files, it just shows the JPEG preview. That is why it can handle so many RAW formats without updating the software.

That's right, Keith.  It says so in this support article:

How Photos and iCloud Photo Library handle RAW images - Apple Support

When you work with RAW images on an iPad, the iPad will show the embedded JPEG thumbnail of the image created by the camera, not the actual RAW file.

And if you edit the photo, it will just edit the JPEG thumbnail.

    Are you really on 10.8?

If so, you may be out of luck. Yosemite or El Capitan might be required for any new cameras

No I'm not. Just haven't updated the info. In fact I updated El Capitan again today. I don't believe the comments entirely about iOs and jpeg files as if that were true it would show only the jpeg simulation which it doesn't. For instance if the jpeg is ACROS it would show mono only. However, it shows full colour. It doesn't alter the fact that this camera has been in field trials for about six months. Something could have been done by now.
