Q: Problem with volume

Help please. When using my iPhone 5s next to my ear the volume is too low. But when on Speaker very loud. I do not always want to use my phone on Speaker.

Have you tried the steps in this link:

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

One other very unlikely possibility: make sure to remove the transparent screen cover when you open your new phone.
