How do I take an Mp3 that I have already downloaded to my laptop and get it into my I tunes library?

Drag the file to an iTunes playlist, or better yet, drag it to User > Music > iTunes > Media > Automatically Add To iTunes. If it still does not add then report back because it is likely a problem with the file.
Must be a problem with my laptop then because dragging to a playlist has not worked with 2 different files from 2 different sources. Could not find a way to the other method described
Drag them to an empty playlist window so you will notice if they get added. They may not have any labels.
