I have the apple TV 4th gen Hooked up through a S I cant turn the the TV on with the Apple remote but I can turn the TV off with remote

I have an Apple TV 4th generation hooked up through a Sonos playbar to an LG smart TV and I have Direct TV. I cannot control the volume up or down with the apple TV remote. I cannot turn the TV on with the Apple TV remote although I can turn the TV off with the Apple TV remote
