iMessage photo is blurry

I'm trying to send a friend a screenshot of a comic but it's sending blurry. I was reading that because he has an android, it might be sms limitations. However when I tried sending it to a fried with an iPhone, it does the same thing. The image is blurry in the iMessages app itself before it even sends. The image is 3.9mb 1903x18222. Is the image res just too high?
