Mar 19, 2016 6:31 AM in response to AlexMahaby Mike Sombrio,I would just reinstall OS X. Not a big deal as none of your files, apps or settings will be changed. Before proceeding you should make sure that you have a current backup just in case something goes wrong. If you're using any anti virus software, cleaning software, tune up speed up or optimizing software get rid of it. Apps like MacKeeper and CleanMyMac come to mind.

How do I do that?
Reinstall OS X? Depends on which version you're running. If you're running Snow Leopard 10.6 you'll need to ise the snow Leopard disc. If you're running 10.7 or later you'd use Recovery How to reinstall OS X on your Mac - Apple Support
