wi fi on a caravan site
Whilst using
wi fi on a caravan site my wife’s Acer always picks up the internet without any
problems, my ipad air however seldom does, any one any idea why that may be?

You may have to look into the internet configuration settings to see if the public wi-fi is using a different
level of security setting than the iPad Air (or the Acer, etc) and also, if the iPad is looking for an Apple
network (instead of long decimal address such as 197.xxx.xxx etc, a short series that starts with 10.)
since this can also keep a wi-fi dependent device from accessing the internet.
If the 'caravan site' uses a static IP address, then it should be easier (once you learn it) to set the iPad.
You may wish to set up a temporary Location for the specific wi-fi network, if you normally use a few
that are already set up, such as home or office networks. There are more than a few info sources here:
A search using modifiers could find some matching suitable answers. I see some here...

This one has a generally OK bit of information (but puts up a window you can click an X to avoid

their plea for donations, due to some other problem) and I've looked it over. Other sites probably
have this information, including those from Apple Support iPad and also AirPort/TimeMachine site.

{see the 'Learn More' links in the bottom of this ^ Apple Support article for more
hints, such as setting up wi-fi mode, if you'd been using data-cellular, etc.}
I've a PC based tablet someone gave me for a birthday awhile ago, and it won't go online; but I
have an Apple AirPort network that has all devices to find and make a local address based on 10.
So I have not found settings in the cheap PC that can allow me to choose; as I don't want to change
all these other products whose wi-fi works fine, and they are Apple. So it works both ways, I guess.
Good luck in this matter! 🙂
Hi
When you try to connect click on forget this network then try again .
I use a mifi dongle when on holiday it works great for iPhone / iPad
You can get them on contact / pay & go run UPTO 10 devices just pick the network with the best
Mobile phone signal before you buy .
Cheers
Brian
Hi
Tried the bit about forget this connection, still no good, it's so frustrating, cant get on line with a £500 ipad but can with a £150 lap top!!!!!
It may be that the range on your iPads wifi is shorter and it depends on how many people are using the public wifi.
thats the problem i had.
