They can be associated with an iTunes library (what you use on your computer to sync it), which is not the same thing as your Apple ID. Just connect it to your current computer that runs iTunes and start using it with its iTunes library. If it is currently associated with a different iTunes library, iTunes will replace the shuffle's existing content with content from your current iTunes library.
What you did with the serial number is for registration purposes only. A 2nd gen is way to old to be covered by warranty or extended coverage, so registration is not important.
last year i bought an ipad and added it to a new apple id
You should keep using your existing Apple ID, not get a new one. If your email address changes, you can associate your existing Apple ID to the new email address, by managing your Apple ID

Mar 20, 2016 2:41 AM in response to Neethulby Kenichi Watanabe,If there's a problem with your Apple ID, you should contact the official Apple Customer Support for Apple iD
https://www.apple.com/support/appleid/
It's best to keep the same Apple ID, because that's how Apple identifies you as an existing customer. If you create a new one, you are a different person to Apple.
