Q: to trash unused clips in browser is 100% safe?

You can collect the unused clips in the browser incl. projects.

Is it save to delete them after finishing the movie? That can be a lot of free space!! But can I be sure no clips are disappeared in the timeline?

because you cannot undo this action so the movie will be damaged in that case....

To guard against accidentally trashing something you'll later need, let the Copy Project to Library command handle the file organization.

Follow the steps outlined in the Archive section of this support document and you should be fine. (To minimize storage space, I suggest not copying either Optimized or Proxy to your archive library.)

    Good luck.

very helpfull and informative but sounds to complicated to me. i'm getting crazy from managing this things. It's always a mash at me..

But by the descipted methode the unused clips are saved to. (I think) And I have a lot off them because I don't work from a story-board etc.

I select the clips and parts wich I need in the browser. I don't select and delete the unused (part) before importing.

I think a stupid workflow... but the project are often short.

I tried a few clips to delete in the unused section an it seems to have no effect in the timeline.

So I guess deleting in the browser the unused clips will work safely.

    Hi Bruce.

Sorry that suggested workflow doesn't fit your needs.

    A couple of comments:

Original media, with some exceptions, seldom takes up a lot of file space.  The computer-generated files – temporary render files and transcoded editing files (like Pro Res) take up a lot of space.

One cannot trash the unused part of a click, or conversely keep only the used part of a clip.

    Good luck.

    1. This media takes a lot of space because it is directly from the cam; thus (unused) movie files. (and due to my un-proff.workflow: a lot of...)

    2. I removed a number of unimportant clips from the "unused" section and checked the timeline and working movie, and reloaded to be sure the project again:

The clips are gone and in the timeline no problem. That sounds right to me off course; for what reason this overview than to remove when finished the movie? (btw, remarkable that there is no menu-option as by remove unused render files)

    3. May be a misunderstanding between us?; you mentioned "a part of a clip", I mean just the "full unused clips".

    regards,

    regards,

Renders can always be recreated. They exist to help playback while editing. After which, why not trash them all?

Yes I did misunderstand, If you don't use any part of a clip, and you are positive you'll never need it, no harm in trashing.

    Good luck.
