El Capitan Installation failing to install

I've just put in a new hard drive for my late 2009 iMac. I'm installing OS X El Capitan via a USB stick. I managed to get the installion up and running and after the restart I get the following error message:

Is it referring to the USB im using to install El Capitan or my brand new hard drive?

Very grateful to any one who can help me 🙂
