Q: ipad 2 lost sound after ios 9.2.1

not a mute/rotation lock issue. i have no volume bar at all without earphones. side up and down buttons do not do anything unless earphones are in. i have done a hard reset and reset to factory settings, cleaned headphone jack, docking connector, with no change. any suggestions?

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

If you can't hear sound from the speaker, contact Apple Support.

I Have the same issue as you except mine is on an iPad 3.... Took it to apple and they couldn't figure out why.
