Q: Quick fix for failed attempts on Itunes installation errors

For those of you who have not downloaded any music recently, or within the last year, like myself, i've done a quick fix since i never got a reply back on my topic from anyone.  I tried and tried to uninstall the programs in order like another topic suggests, but it never worked.  So i said screw it, i'll figure it out via the OLD VERSIONS OF ITUNES since i still have my old iTunes Library files on my computer.  This is for PC users only.

I personally have not downloaded any music in quite a few years, so i went back and downloaded iTunes version 10.7 which was the most recent update for iOS6.  Link is below to download.

I did the uninstall according to this link below for the supposed "fix" for the errors on iTunes not being installed correctly even though it was.

Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later - Apple Support

 

Once i did that, i restarted my computer and downloaded the above link for iTunes 10.7 for Windows 64-bit (i'm currently using Windows 7).

Once it is installed, it pops up with the error saying iTunes could not load the iTunes Library.itl file because it was updated with a more current version of iTunes.

 

Go to your iTunes folder and it will either be under My documents\ My Music\ iTunes OR \Users\username\Music\iTunes.

Search for the iTunes Library (.itl file) and it should have a date of MM/DD/YYYY where the month, date, year is when you upgraded your iTunes.

I dragged that file to my desktop.

I went into my Previous iTunes Libraries folder

Since iTunes 10.7 is from 2012, i had to use an iTunes Library file from 2012.  Cut that file and paste into the iTunes Folder(replacing the one you put on your desktop).

Rename it to iTunes Library.

Open iTunes and bam, works with no issues.  No more errors.

 

Hopefully this helps the same way with anyone that has newer files before iTunes crappy update before 2015.

    Yes, it may work, but ...

     

    • Any system running Windows 7 or later supports the latest version of iTunes (12.3.2); users of Windows XP or Vista can use 12.1.3
    • turingtest2's user tip on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates provides guidance that should resolve just about all installation/update issues other than those associated with a badly configured PC, one that has other software that conflicts with iTunes or prevents its correct installation, or is infected with viruses or other malware
    • Users wanting to subscribe to Apple Music require iTunes 12.2 or later
    • Users with devices running iOS 9 require iTunes 12.3 or later
    • If you go back to something as old as iTunes 10.7 you need to have a corresponding iTunes Library yyyy-mm-dd.itl file in your Previous iTunes Libraries folder.
    • How many users will realistically have libraries that haven't changed in four years - not just in terms of added media but also additions/updates/deletions of playlists, play counts, ratings, etc. - all of which will be lost if you revert to a library database from 2012?
    • How many users really want to run software that's nearly 30 versions out of date??

    Because I did what other topics have said.  My computer ran perfect with the old versions prior to last year(obviously lots of people are still having issues with new computers from what it looks like too and brand new installations).  When your computer works perfectly before an update and it still doesn't work, that's a developer coding issue, not user error, especially when it's all automated installation and all you do is click OK(including following directions for uninstalling and reinstalling).  That's also why I said hopefully this helps to anyone with NEWER files.  We live in a world of thinking you need to so call "upgrade" when you don't need to unless you're actually having an issue and there's a bug fix for that specific issue.  I still haven't updated my new iPhone with the newest update, theres no point to, I'm not having any current issues.

    Oh, and, it's works perfectly now.  So it's definitely nothing to do with a "badly configured computer".  It's the version of iTunes that needs fixing.  Computers don't need the newest version BTW.  Not even to copy songs to your phone, iPad or iPod after downloading from the Apple Store.  Thanks for the reply though.
