Q: How can I set my own page sizes?

I want to set my own paper/page-size for a paperback book I am publishing online through CreateSpace. However, my HP Photosmart 7150 printer will not allow me to ‘manage my own page size’ even when it’s not plugged into my MacBook Pro though the usb. So I want to (reluctantly as it might mess it up) temporarily disable the printer from my apps in the hopes that if it is ‘not there’ the Mac will not be ‘looking for it’. Or will it? And what paper/page- size options will I get?

It seems ridiculous that I cannot set my own page sizes with Apple?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Lion, then Mavericks, now Yosomite

The following link has instructions for applications that use standard Yosemite features. If that isn't what you are seeing, it may be due to the application you are using doing something other than standard: OS X Yosemite: Create a custom paper size
