Q: Documents from all folders is missing.

All of my documents from all folders are missing from the folders. I searched "all my files" and it appears they are still on my computer.Everything appeared to be functioning normally yesterday.

I did a reboot and update after noticing the problem but it did not help.

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

    Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.

Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

    Eric,

Thanks for the advice. I took my computer into the Apple Store Genius Bar yesterday. As it turns out, the problem was a "sizing" issue. The technician changed some auto sizing options and had it fixed in a matter of minutes. I apologize for not remembering exactly how he did it.

    Thanks again
