Q: Compressor Preferences

Apple iMac, 2.7 GHz Core i5

Yosemite 10.10.5

FCPX 10.2.3

Compressor 4.2.2

12GB Memory

My project looks clean in FCP but when sent to Compressor one particular clip appears to have a "Blur" effect applied to it.

I have tried replacing the clip without success. I have copied my program into a new project, same result.

I decided to dump the Compressor preferences but I can't find them!

I've gone to Users > My Home icon > looked for library and it isn't there.

Can't find the library or the preferences anywhere.

Need assistance please.

    Hey Ray.

    What are your output settings?

Use the Range tool to select the clip you're seeing as blurred. Export that as a master file. Bring that into Compressor and apply your setting and encode it. Is is blurred?

    Hi Russ,

My Compressor output setting is DVD (Mpeg2 and AC3)

Sent the clip to Compressor and the Mpeg 2 is good.

    Hi Russ

Preceding the problem clip was a freeze frame (which was intentionally blurred) with text supered over it.

I replaced the freeze frame, the text and my problem clip and all was well.

It seams that the supered text could have been the problem.

Thanks for you tip which established that the problem wasn't with Compressor.

Now I'll try and find my Compressor preferences.

    Regards

    Ray

    OK.

Here us a very useful support doc for Compressor reference. See paragraph 10 for preferences.
