Connecting an old Powerbook HD to an iMac

My good old Powerbook is dead for some years now, due to a failing power supply, but I'm pretty sure there are files on the HD I want to retrieve. Is it possible to have the HD taken out and connect it to my i7 iMac so I can check what's on it and copy the files I want to have?

Thanks!

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

You do not say which PowerBook computer.

Providing that it is a machine with an ATA hard drive, you could possibly try a universal adapter similar to the device at http://www.newertech.com/products/usb3_universaldriveadap.php .

An older (pre-1995) PowerBook with a SCSI hard drive would make things more complicated. If necessary, please post back with the exact model and its operating system.
