Q: updated to IOS 9.3 and activation server is not responding

Hi ,

i just updated to IOS 9.3 on both my iPhone and iPad.

Everything went fine on my iPhone, but the iPad cannot connect to the activation server.

Both are on the same apple ID.

Does someone have the same experience?

Times like this I wish I had a direct line to Apple's engineers. I think they are reading from the playbook is they're recommending factory resets. At least if the iTunes icon came on the screen you would know exactly what to do.

Have the same problem, with iPhone 6 no problem, with iPad activation doesn't work. Tried several times since the release of iOS 9.3 now. I don't have a computer anymore, so iTunes is not an option (and it shouldn't be the only solution in 2016!)

WWith your iPhone 6, open the "Locate my iPhone" app.

FInd your iPad's name and delete it.

Then return to your iPad and redo activation process.

You should be able to complete the update without iTunes.

I saw this fix on another forum (it suggested you go to https://www.icloud.com/#find) but when I went there I couldnt find the "remove from account" button. I believe it should be in the section that I have highlighted in red. I have an iphone 5 and I cant find anything about removing my ipad on my phone either

Thanks Pierre J.! Removing my iPad from iCloud worked. I could immediately activate my iPad after removing it from the list...

Did you try from the "Find my iPhone app?" I checked it should be easy to find.

Same problem here on iPad 2. No activation OTA and no connect to iTunes. Could not verify the device. I logged in to the iCloud on the computer and removed the iPad 2 from the device list. All the same.

as mentioned above I worked out how to remove it (I didnt know the device has to be turned off) but removing it has done nothing. as soon as I turn the ipad back on it reconnects to the find my phone app! in fact when I remove it a message comes up saying thats what it is going to do.

    Turn off your device

    Go to icloud.com

sign in with the icloud account associated with your device

    Click on Find iPhone

    Click on All Devices

    Click on your Device

Click on Remove from account (DO NOT ERASE OR MARK AS LOST)

Turn on your device and try to activate again

Once activated go back to settings and sign in to your icloud account and turn on find my iphone again

I think the reason removing it from find my phone doesnt work for me is because as soon as I turn the ipad back on it reconnects, just like it says its going

to do when i remove it

thanks but I have tried all that, still doesnt work. as Ive said above i think it is because as soon as I turn the ipad back on it reconnects to find my phone, just like it says its going to do when i remove it. this is extremely frustrating and time consuming!

    Dear GerVer,

Here are the methods I tried, after my iPad2 updated to IOS 9.3 and can't be activated.

1 - Tried to connect to iTunes in iMac, failed.

2 - Tried to remove iPad2 from iCloud.com, and restart my iPad2 to get activated, failed

3 - Tried to reboot the iPad2 a few times, failed.

I am looking forward to see if anybody can activate your devices , your help will be very appreciated.

    Thank you.

I would be happy to know how to go back to the previous version (before 9.3). Is that possible? I suppose not
