Your problem has nothing to do with the update and everything to do with you not knowing your login information.

Apple can assist but you need to bring the original purchase receipt and the ipad to an Apple Store and they can remove the activation lock.

What if I forget my Apple ID password?

If you forget your password, you can reset it at your Apple ID account page or you can contact Apple Support and verify your identity.

If you forget your password and can't reset it, you'll lose access to your Apple ID and might be unable to use or reactivate your device. To help prevent this, visit your Apple ID account page periodically to review and update your account information.

What if I purchase a device that is still linked to the previous owner's account?

Contact the previous owner as soon as possible and ask them to erase the device and remove it from their account. Learn how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.

    Hi,

I understand your frustration, I use my phone more for data activities and after this update it has become useless, I did the factory reset and it did not resolve the issues.

Have you backed up your IPad using Itunes, or is there anything on it that you can retrieve later from the cloud?

If answer is yes, the please use try the following method.

If answer is no, I would caution that you will lose all data after factory reset if you follow the below steps. In case of no it is best to go to the Genius Bar.

I tried this with IPhone, not sure if it will work with Ipad, worth a try.

    Steps for Recovery mode reset:

    1. Turn off your IPad

    2. Press the home button, keep pressing till you see ITunes symbol

    3. Now connect the IPad to Itunes on Mac or Windows.

    4. Click on  restore in Itunes.

    Greetings Factasy,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I sounds liket after updating your iPhone to iOS 9.3, your current Apple ID and password are not working to activate your device. In some cases, the hint that you see on the Activate iPhone screen may not match your current Apple ID.

We know that this situation can be frustrating, but we’re here to help. To troubleshoot this situation and work towards resolving it, please read over and follow the steps from the following article.

I Downloaded 9.3 and the screen on my iPhone 5 went black.  Phone works but there is no screen.  Could not be restored. Apple claims it has nothing to do with the problems 9.3 is causing.  Anyone hear of anything like this?  I ended up having to get a new phone.

I Downloaded 9.3 on my Iphone 5s this morning and immediate afterward the screen went black.  After 2 hours on hold with apple support, and 2 unsecussful attempt at Apple chat I finally went to my local Apple Genius desk..the phone is on but the screen cannot be restored.  So Apple claims it was a coincedence.... Nothing to do with the download I had just completed when it went black...ended up having to get a new phone.  Anyone else have a problem like this?

Even after receiving the update 9.3-13E237 iP4S I still froze, the home button still does not work.

Pressing the Power and Home button to reset could not keep showing slides to the right to turn off.

Once entered in any menu, it will still be there will not be able to return to the home screen.

IP4S regretfully I can not wear normal again, back to 9.2.1 also does not mean anything. 9.3 iP4S have killed me.
