Is Clampi virus real?

My computer froze and a window with a warning popped about a security violation with an error code and a phone number to call. I called the number and was put in touch with My Tech Bay. They said I had the Clampi virus and showed me that it was in my system. They accessed my computer remotely and fixed everything. I bought a year of support they said was an Apple warranty extension. Now I'm wondering if it was all legit. My computer was stuck and it now works fine, BUT....

I had this last night I received a message on my pc saying that my Mac had been compromised and would be locked if I didn't ring a toll free number within 5 minutes. The number rang out and I was talked through how they would fix my pc by loading anti virus software for a fee. They took my payment details but it failed to go through. s this is a scam I will be cancelling this payment and changing my passwords.
