Q: Best host for multiple shows

Hi.

I currently have two podcasts running, both are with Libsyn. I'm paying 5 a month for the smaller one, and the $15 a month for the other one since those episodes are longer.

Libsyn charges per show. I'm looking for a host that doesn't do that. I don't want to go with AWS/Azure/Google because if it blows up big suddenly, I have to pony up that money. And even if there's a small growth, I'm sure it'll be a pain switching again.

I was shopping around the hosts and I seen bluehost has a pretty much unlimited bandwidth and no other caps and what looks to be better speed on their 15 a month plan. Has anyone used this or a standard blue host plan (shared), to run multiple podcasts? I want to run a bunch.

What's nice about Libsyn, is that it does a lot for you, with minimal data entry on my part, and I hooked up Feedburner, which in turn, is what I used for iTunes and other podcast aggregators.

If I go this shared hosting route (a shared host)

  1. Is this feasible?
  2. Is it fast enough and will be able to handle enough concurrent downloads at the same time, at the same capacity as Libsyn?
  3. Am I able to host multiple shows in the same server? I'm assuming just to make different folders per each show, then make a subdomain (no cost with BlueHost and unlimited), and make a URL for the feed, but how to do that...ultimately I think I'd still point feed burner at the URL/RSS feed.
  4. I'm a web dev by day, so any development/config shouldn't be too difficult for me. But if it's a real pain and I have to spend hours and hours setting up just one feed/show I don't know if it's worth the hassle.
  5. Id likely name the URL my "network" name, and I'm assuming just do per show,  show1.myfakepodcastnetworkurl.com, show2.myfakepodcastnetworkurl.com, show3.myfakepodcastnetworkurl.com, etc. Is it this simple, or, going back to question 1, not feasible? I hear podcast hosts are running special algorithms to handle the load on media streaming; well, if I'm looking at a standard shared hosting plan, is this going to not be available to me? I'm assuming libsyn and other such companies have their own propriertatry algorithms that they run, in-house.

Thanks.
