Hi murielfromil, sounds like your problem is a different one to the one the rest of us are getting. None of us with this problem are getting an 1671 error, and nothing is graphically 'padlocked'.

We have all installed iOS 9.3 successfully, but we just cannot reactivate the iPad afterwards to start using it again. It's bricked at the activation stage saying "Your iPad cannot be activated because the activation server is temporariliy unavailable". The problem is it's been saying that for the past three days now. The iPad is now effectively functioning as a large, flat, cumbersome LED light.

Hello Ottoindo,

I had that problem since 10pm on 03/22/16 and the next day I call Apple support... thanks to them I lost all my INotes and the complete back up in my LT. and no in the ICloud.. Very convenient for them because you have to pay! they said they are not responsible for that and that hundreds of people lost pictures, doc's and notes. I do not agreed with their answer, they suppose to have high technology to fix the problem... the agent, Laurie said that was my fault because I didn't have another back up as prevention! I will go further to get back my INote...

please be sure to have a second back up.

Thanks for this information but personally I DO NOT want to restore my iPad 2 for multiple reasons. The top two reasons:

1) No recent backup because backups for my iPad began failing the better part of a year ago and despite trying all the suggestions I found online I was only able to get it to restore once and that was several months ago.

2) Even if I had done a backup yesterday prior to doing the update, I would lose so much information that isn't included in the backup. One huge issue alone would be losing my Kindle app library which means not only having to download everything again (we're talking thousands of books) but losing bookmarks and even knowing which books I've already read.

At this point I'm just thankful my iPad is for purely personal use (primarily using the Kindle app) and not for business or I'd be royally screwed.

Finally the process allowed me to restore my iPAD 2. I connected it to iTunes (by both the power and on keys and then letting go of the power button). Once it was connected this time iTunes hesitated and then gave me the option to restore. Now I must have done this 10 times before and I got the 'iTunes does not recognize this iPad' message, but this time a box came up that ask me if I wanted to restore the iPad. The Apps are ones from 3 years ago, but I can fix that. I think Apple fixed the problem without saying anything. I personally think the programmers that developed iOS 9.3 were a bit distracted with the FBI thing. Those guys are good, but you can't be everywhere all of the time. Thanks guys! I was a bit worried there.
