Having the same issue, also iPad 2. Updated via Wi-Fi, connecting to iTunes via USB doesn't solve this.
Same problem. iPad 2. Just updated to iOS 9.3. iPad is now useless and can't be activated for more than 12 hours. connecting to iTunes does not help.
for 24 hours can not activate
Just to add that it isn't confined to iPad 2, my old original iPad is affected and effectively useless, though after trying a restart and inadvertently taking a screen shot of the 'Hello' screen, iPhoto did recognise it. Tried restarts when linked and not linked to iTunes. No go at all. Apple should pull this update quickly.
Same issue. I've seen some users faced this problem with earlier updates but what eventually helped many of them (removing SIM-card from the device) doesn't help me in this case. Please help us!!
My iPad is working again, had to put it in recovery mode, installed iOS 9.3 via iTunes again and synced my data back. Sadly the last backup was 2 weeks ago, so all my stuff since is lost. 😟
good for you.
could you share the steps you took to accomplish this? How do you put an iPad in recover mode?
i can't access iPad settings to disconnect device from iCloud.
I launched iTunes but I can't figure out how to activate iPad using that app. i Updated all iPad app I downloaded fro App Store.
thx
Ricardo, just follow the steps in this post:
Re: updated to IOS 9.3 and activation server is not responding
But in my case it installed 9.3.
Thanks Bismarck for your message -
I followed the steps in the post you linked but I iTunes does not even show the iPad device.
Mine is 3rd Gen iPad - most likely I will take it to the Genius bar. Lately, it appears I need to rent room at that store.
Thanks for helping.
Not that it helps much, but I have been experiencing the same issues with both of my iPad 2 (GSM) models. Had no problems with our other work and personal devices (iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 5c).
Support is useless. They need the iPad number which cannot be accessed as the iPad is locked up in a "continue" which results in a message the problem is with the server. The result of that is - if Support is correct - server overloaded - the iPad is useless meantime.
Server overload??? So the iPad 2 has his own activation server? Because my other iDevices (2x iPhone 5S, iPad Air 2) activated without any hickup at the same time, while the iPad 2 didn't.
Me too, iPad 4, bricked. The password is correct, confirmed in iCloud.com. Vi iTunes I get a message saying that this Apple ID can not activate this iPad.
Same here, iPad 2 bricked after installing 9.3. No access to activation servers on it's own nor via iTunes. Waiting for a fix, aside from recovery/backup.
