I just update some of our school iPads to iOS 9.3 and supervised with Apple Configurator 2.2.
The login screen showed! It asks me to enter managed Apple ID ( general Apple ID is not OK ! ) ?
Can iOS 9.3 not go to multi-user mode after supervised? I am afraid it will lock up our student iPad to
multi-user mode if they upgrade the device. How about those iPad is undergo BYOD?

I also noticed this and am a bit concerned. I support a number of institutes that have 30+ (in some cases 100+) iPads. We do not want to have to enter Apple ID's into each and every one of these!
Hopefully I've missed something obvious. Will give it a bit more testing and report if I find anything helpful.
I finally restore that iPad to iOS 9.2.1 and supervised with Apple Configurator 2.2. Then Upgrade it to 9.3 by "software update". Everything fine.
It means that directly supervised iOS 9.3 will make it go into multi-user mode. But it will not happen if you already supervised in lower version.
Did you ever have a seed build of Configurator 2.2 with the 'Shared iPad' switch visible in the Prepare Assistant on this Mac?
Managed Apple ID ? Need login for the supervised iPad?
