Q: Spotlight search not working on brand new Macbook... computer appears not to have indexed yet. What can I do?

Brand new computer, have had it for one week. Spotlight search still not finding anything except dictionary and basic system files/applications.

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
