Q: permission to burn dvd on my macbook

I am trying to burn an .iso file to a dvd and when I insert the disk I get an error message

"This operations can not be completed because you don't have permission"  I am the administrator

of my computer and I am logged in as such, so what permission do I need?

Yes Ginger, that was it, I had to repair permissions... It was so mystifying to me... I didn't see the obvious.

    Is this an ISO file you created or one you downloaded? What is your operating system? Have you tried using get info to unlock or change permissions of the file? Does this happen when you click on the file and attempt to burn it?

    Ginger, Thanks for offering to help.  This has nothing to do with the file, but has to do with trying to load a

    blank dvd disk into my macbook.  This disc just gets kicked out and an error message tells me "the

    operation can not be completed because I do not have the necessary permissions". Just strange to me.

    I am running 10.10.5 Yosemite and I tired two different brands of blank dvd disks.

    Does this happen with all media or just the blank DVD's? Have you gone to disk utilities and repaired permissions? You could also go to recovery and do a reinstall. This should not delete any personal files. In system preferences,CDs and DVDs. What do you have it set to?
