MacBook Air heats up while charging through Thunderbolt Display

I am running my Apple Thunderbolt Display from my Macbook Air (13", medio 2012), but when connecting the MagSafe power supply to the mac it starts heating up and the fan starts cooling down. This happen even when no app, browser etc. is running. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?
