There is also another way to control the dissolve timing. If you hover over the PIP clip you will see two circles with a dot in the middle at the top of the clip. Dragging these circles sets the dissolve time. The left circle determines the dissolve in time and the right circle determines the dissolve out time If you want no dissolve in time drag each circle to the edge of the clip.

When you are in Picture in Picture, you will see a setting box in the toolbox area where you can set the PIP for dissolve, zoom, or swap. To the right of that

is a box where you can set the number of seconds for the dissolve. If you set the number of seconds to zero, you will eliminate the dissolve and have

the cut that you want.
