1998 IMAC Questions ?

I got this from a friends mom who was getting rid of it, Im pretty sure its the first one not the more new ones to come after that, this has the 32 Ram and 4GB hard Drive and its Green. Ok I DO not have the Disks for it, I got a copy of Cheetah on a CD but when I try to Boot up with it on the Computer it does nothing. When I try to use the OS 8 is that i think it is on the IMAC I get an Error saying Finder cant find somthing so it goes no further then that, So I really would like to get some use out of this thing still. So I got the Idea to put Cheetah on the extra Hard Drive I had its a 15GB hard Drive, put it on my New IMAC Erased it as Mac OS Extended put Cheetah on it no problem from my Intel IMAC then put the Hard Drive back on the Old one, tried booting up and it doesnt see it i thought it would be worth a try. So would I beable to somehow get this running at all without haveing the Original Disks I really do not feel like hunting down CDs if its not even going to work. If anyone knows how I can get it workin that would be awsome. And does this Read Burned CDs I dont think it does

Hi Anthony,
G3 iMac, Rev.A or Rev.B, the Bondi Blue, were the first ones.
If your's is green, it's a Rev.C (Jan1999-Oct1999), slightly better processor speed and graphic memory.
Still considered "vintage" and not supported anymore at Apple Support.

The original OS was Mac OS 8.5.1,
and the maximum OS it can run is Mac OS X 10.3.9
with a maximum RAM of 512 MB on two PC66 144-pin SO-DIMM slots.

It is a Classic machine really, and the best you can try now IMO is to find some original CDs somewhere, for example at eBay.

I know it is possible at Apple Support to get some original discs in case yours are scratched or lost, but you should ask in a store about one that's not supported anymore?

No troubleshooting help, sorry.
At least you know better now what to look for...

Hey thanks alot for the INFO, but if this is a Revision why does it say 1998 all over the Motherboard ? It says on the side of the machine 9/11/1998 B-4 so did they make the more new Revision of mine in 98 to ? and mine is Green just incase you think I might of mistaken it for being Blue. Its green as green can get lol. well anyways thanks again for the INFO. Ohh and I took a bigger hard Drive and put OS 9 on it using my friends PowerPC G4 Powerbook then I put the hard Drive back into the old IMAC, will that work ?? I didnt start it up yet to see if it works yet, the computer tends to not turn on somtimes, then if i let it sit it will turn on, weird huh?
