So are you really saying that I have to manually add all the songs back to each play list that is missing ? You know how much work that would be ?? I just bought an Apple Watch 3 and synced all my songs and at least half of my songs are missing on my Apple Watch 3. I had Spotify before and and worked great. Now I go to Apple Music and having all these issues.

Sadly, I just discovered that I have the same problem. Trying to recreate my many playlists won't work, because (1) I have dozens and dozens and dozens of playlists, and can't remember everything I put in them, and it would take ages to do, and (2) many of my playlists were created from Apple Music and consisted of things I had discovered; I simply can't remember what I put into those playlists.

whats even more weird, is that when i plug it to itunes, the info tab below with the colors show audio listed and it sycns and next thing it is copying the music back to the iphone. How did it got removed in the first place and why??

so the quick fix to this is just plug your iphone to itunes and let it sycn and it should transfer everything back to your device as before. thats what it did for me.

Yesterday all my music disappeared overnight. Both on my phone and my Apple Watch. I went the whole day trying to figure out why. Even my purchased songs no longer showed in the music app. No songs or playlists. Absolutely nothing. I tried to disable iCloud music library, Apple Music, sign out and back in. I managed to get my purchased music to show up but as fast as it showed up they all disappeared again. Finally I fixed it.

I Opened my MacBook and quickly disabled wifi. Just in case it was an error with Apple Music I didn't want iTunes to sync and wipe my library. So I checked iTunes saw my nearly current library and connected back to wifi. My library on my Mac updated to display the songs I added the day before and shortly after my music on my iPhone showed up. My playlists and all. The only downside is that I had to redownload all my music back to my phone and watch since for whatever reason all my previously downloaded music was showing up as unavailble offline.

Hope this helps!

I was going to play music today and discovered the same thing!! All the hours I spent hand crafting playlists and they are all messed up. Lists that bad 30 or 49 songs , now have 2! This is on my iPad, my iPod, and my iPhone 4s. I may have to joint Spotify and cancel Apple as my of my firiends have done because of the many issues. Please tell me I don't have to manually recreated my beloved playlists!

I had this problem too with all my play lists missing off my iPhone after the iOS 9.3 upgrade. They were still all on my macbook so it was clear they hadn't actually been deleted but my iPhone wasn't reading them from Apple Music. I even found I could search for songs on the phone that I'd previuosly downloaded to playlists that were no longer showing.

After much playing I spoke to support and they suggested going to settings/music/iCloud music library and toggle this on and off. After the third attempt all my playlists reappeared. All of them. I chose the replace option when prompted so my Apple Music account replaced everything on the phone. Hopefully this helps people.

This is the third or fourth time I've lost playlists that took years to make. Apple's absolutely disrespectful treatment of our data is just unacceptable. The glib reply is always, "Just go back and restore from a back-up." Apple, why don't you stop putting out bug-ridden "updates" that destroy our settings and data so we don't have to. I can't put up with this anymore.
