I have an ipad mini with ios 9.2.1. I want to select gmail as my default mail account, but the "default" option does not appear (as it does on my iphone with the same ios version). It should be below the "signature" option in "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" in settings, but it's not there. Any suggestion on how to fix this? Thanks.
Hi, I really appreciate your response but I don't understand it. Under Mail Accounts "icloud" and "gmail" are displayed, and below that "Add Account". Do I need to somehow disable one of them to make one the default? As info, I want gmail to be the default. Thanks again.
Here's a screenshot from my Ipad settings. It looks the same on my iphone settings, but on the iphone settings, "default" option appears below "signature". The iphone has the same Icloud and Gmail options under accounts, and the same IOS version. Thanks!
Default mail app disappeared on IPHONE6, Iphone7
Simple steps I did and IT worked for me.
Step.1. Ask Siri by saying hey siri open up my mail app.
then Siri will say you don't have one but you can restore it from app store
and it will display on the screen.
Step2. Click on the restore on the app.
step3. It will show up right there.

You have multiple email accounts set up on your iPad in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and at least of two of them currently have 'mail' enabled on them ? I have multiple accounts enabled and I had the setting in iOS 9.2.1 (and now in 9.3)

Indeed they are. However, in the fine print under the iCloud account name, it appears as if you have turned the "Mail" option off! Therefore, you have exactly one email account (gmail), and there is no need for a default.
