Aug 8, 2016 10:24 AM in response to everythigby EobardT,Sounds like restore from iPhone works for some people but did not work for me. Even setting the phone up as a new iPhone, the Touch ID fails before you can even put your finger on the button.
This is definitely related to the system upgrade as Touch ID failed for me the minute my upgrade to 9.3.3 completed - and never had a single problem with it before then. Very frustrating as I didn't even want this upgrade but the popup on my phone made it seem like I didn't have an option this time.
The home button also doesn't "wake" the phone anymore to see notifications, etc - although I can use it to exit an app once the phone is unlocked, so the button itself is technically functional.

Aug 9, 2016 11:32 AM in response to woodstok1979by pandulavp,Touch ID Not Working after iOS 9.3.3 Update
My TouchID is not working, post the iOS 9.3 update yesterday. Doesn't work to unlock the phone, nor apps that use it. I disabled/enabled it. Re-setup my fingerprints, and no luck. Rebooting phone doesn't help either.
Did not backup phone prior to update. And have not tried doing a backup and restoring yet. Was hoping for a quicker/better solution (and also wanted to report this issue).

Aug 10, 2016 7:43 AM in response to katjafromkölnby Mr big brown bear,Well I tried a total reset (settings and content) from iCloud. Managed to get Touch ID working again BUT not all the time.
Its really frustrating esp if you use touch id for apps etc.
Works about 50% of the time but not as it should.
Good luck

Aug 10, 2016 9:58 AM in response to Ahmadkhan2811by EobardT,I ended up taking my phone to the Genius Bar and they told me the reason Touch ID wouldn't work again after the upgrade was most likely because I previously had my screen replaced by a 3rd party (when it cracked). It sounds as though the OS checks for Apple parts upon upgrade and doesn't always recognize 3rd party hardware. Even though I've had that screen for a year and Touch ID worked 100% fine until I upgraded.
So unfortunately the solution for me is - new phone. Very frustrating as I didn't even care about upgrading to iOS 9.3.3. I usually dismiss those popups but this one made it sound like it was mandatory.

Aug 10, 2016 11:38 AM in response to EobardTby jmorcom806,Bstore you buy a new phone, connect it to a Mac or PC and go through the reset and restore process through iTunes. It will download 9.3.4 (which is not the solution) and reinstall. This was the only way I could get Touch ID to work again And my phone was new. it sounds like everyone that's had this issue, myself included, did the upgrade directly on the phone. Worth a try.

Aug 24, 2016 9:34 AM in response to steveyjayby mtraps,Yup, I have the same issue exactly. Fingerprint Recoginition isnt working at all, cant even add a new fingerprint and my battery drains overnight even if I charge it to 100% before I go to bed. I called apple, and they were completely useless and just suggested I bring it in to get serviced. They obviously dont want to take responsibility for this update that has caused out phones to screw up.

Aug 24, 2016 9:33 PM in response to mtrapsby dktm5,Same issue after 9.3.4 update. Touch ID fails, 50% reduction in battery life, and now my phone runs hot. Genius Bar said they couldn't replace for a hardware problem out of warranty, but my hardware was working just fine before I updated iOS... can anyone explain the correlation between touch ID failure and battery drain?
