Disc drive won't physically accept discs

Hello everyone,

When I go to insert a disc, my Macbook won't "grab it up" like normal. I can insert a disc all the way in, so there isn't anything obstructing it; when I do this, my Macbook attempts to grab it (~2 times, it makes noises similar to normal functioning) before partially ejecting it (anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 of the way out).

I tried looking online to see if there were simple tricks/fixes, but nothing really seemed to address this kind of an issue (as far as I could tell). Does anyone have any thoughts or insight?
