What happened to my home videos in iTunes 12.3.3.17 The home videos tab is gone.
My videos are still in the iTunes folder but you can not see them in the app. The home videos tap is no longer showing movies.

Thank you Robert Manning1, your solution worked like a charm. Have just migrated from my old MacPro to a 2017 iMac, with iTunes, Aperture etc. on an external HD. Had the same issue as described above and opening a video from the HD in iTunes made the tab show up again. Thanks, this could have otherwise ruined a nice weekend with the new Mac ;-)
On the horizontal bar (in iTunes window), at the left end, click button to show your Movies library. Near the middle of bar, click Home Videos.
Are you saying your expected movies are not shown there? If so, do they appear under My Movies. If you do a search in iTunes on the name of one of these movies, does it appear anywhere in iTunes?
I had the same issue. To get the tab back I had to drag the Home Videos folder from the iTunes folder into the iTunes App. Doing this did not duplicate the moves in my system.
I get the same issue. I can either see "Home Movies" or regular movies, like you buy in the iTunes store, under "My Movies". I can't see both at the same time. Is there an Apple fix for this in the works? Dragging the Home Movies folder from my hard drive into the app didn't help.
This worked for me:
I located a video on my hard drive and right clicked it. Out of the options, I chose "Open with" and then "iTunes.app". This added this new video to iTunes and literally out of nowhere all the other Home Videos that were previously in iTunes showed up and a Home Video icon appeared under Genres in the Movie section of iTunes.
