Q: My thunderbolt to vga port will not work when i connect it to the external monitor

Im trying to hook up my external monitor to my laptop, but i connect it the screen flashes then nothing happens. please help i need to hook the monitor up for work.

    It sounds like the Mac can't auto-detect the supported resolution of your monitor.

     

    Have you used the Displays panel in System Preferences?

    Does the display appear there?

    If not, does the 'Detect Displays' button help?

    Can you manually select a resolution for the monitor?
