Thank you for your reply
I can open iDVD but I can't get my project to load into it.
I have tried to drag it in and import it but the files are greyed out and I can't choose them.
Thanks

Mar 29, 2016 12:58 PM in response to Aallen2016by Old Toad,★HelpfulDo you have a Time Machine backup of your hard drive when it was running 10.9.5? If so you can partition your hard drive or get an external HD and restore your 10.9.5 backup and files to it so you can boot from it when you want to run iDVD. That's what I did.

I don't understand. If you create a new project from scratch there's no choosing files involved. There's saving a new project file but no choosing one.
As for partitioning the boot drive it would be much safer to get an external HD and install the system on it.
However, this Apple document describes partitioning: Disk Utility (El Capitan): Partition a physical disk

I do a lot of movie-making with Macs. I would strongly recommend having a 10.9.5 partition, or a separate boot drive with 10.9.5 for your movie-making.
10.9.5 is definitely "findable". Nothing comes near the power and ease of use of iDVD. If you want to make a very simple DVDs there are alternatives. With iDVD, you can have Hollywood looking menus with very little effort. Toast would probably be my second choice. But it is a distant second choice. Toast will let you make menus, but these menus will not have motion, and they are set at fixed intervals. I use Toast for making Blu-rays.
I would also recommend burning M-DISC as opposed to standard DVD-R or DVD+R media. Normal DVD media as a limited lifetime, M-DISC is good for 1000 years.
