Q: Magic Mouse 2 and Keyboard 2 need to be re-paired every time

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

10.11.3

I've renamed both devices.

At each restart the devices attempt to connect but then I get an error saying the device can't connect and I must re-pair.

Every.

Single.

Time.

I have this too with my Magic Mouse 2 (MM2), which I only use on my MacBook Air5,2. My MM2 has never been paired to another device.

I did not have this issue with my previous Magic Mouse.

Almost all the time, or maybe even all the time, I have to pair my MM2 all over again for it to work.

Another thing that gets the MM2 to work again, is to connect it via USB to my Macbook Air. Then it automatically says that the MM2 is paired with my MBA.

Not sure if I should suspect a hardware defect (the MM2 is just a few weeks old). Will check it for another week and then I'll probably check if I can replace it. But it wasn't bought at Apple Store, so returning for an issue that may be harder to reproduce on other laptops this might be not so easy (to get it replace). Hence I want to collect more data on this issue before returning it.
