iphone 5s asking for wrong apple id

My 5s updated to iOS 9.3 last night and it's now asking for my old Apple ID. This ID was defunct awhile ago so I'm not sure how it even got in there. I tried to sign out of iCloud but I don't remember the last password for that ID. I also can't access that email address any more because it was on comcast and we no longer have that, so I can't reset it and I can't sign out because of these things. I would reset the phone but it would wipe out my music, pix, and other documents. Please advise on how I can do this? I don't get why I'd have to use a password to sign OUT. Thank you.

Greetings rflan444,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that after updating your iPhone to iOS 9.3, your current Apple ID and password are not working to activate your device. In some cases, the hint that you see on the Activate iPhone screen may not match your current Apple ID.
