Finder windows disappear in Yosemite OS X 10.10.5

I am getting tired of my Finder windows disappearing between startups. I have spent a lot of time working out a selection of Tabs to particular Drives or Folders. This gives me a fast access to all the things I need for my current work projects.

This has worked really well and I've gotten used to be able to carry on working, where I left off, straight away each time I start the laptop.

Every now and again this fails completely, I close my laptop down and the next day, on restart, I find NO Finder window available and I have to go through the process of setting up the Tabs again.

Has anyone had similar experiences? Is there a solution?

I regularly (usually weekly) subject the whole system to Techtool Pro's Computer Check collection of Utilities and Macaroni still looks after Permissions. I have tried turning on the feature "Close Windows when Quitting an App" to no particular effect.

I preferred the Snow Leopard method of designating Applications to Spaces I must say - it never fails - I say "FAILS" because I have kept a MacPro running SL because I enjoyed the OS so much more than the later offerings.

Help with this will be appreciated.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 8 Gbs ram
