Q: I am inconsistently receiving text messages - some are only being received in iMessage  - any suggestions?

If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

if the above link doesn't help then you will need to contact your cell phone provider as SMS text message is a carrier feature.
