Q: Unable to login into iMessage nor FaceTime

Hello,

 

I bought my new MacBook Air 13" two days ago. It runs on the new OS X EL Capitan. I've been able to login into App store, make an Apple ID and even update some software.

 

When I click on FaceTime and enter the Apple ID and Password, it just keeps logging in and nothing happens thereafter.

  

Similarly, iMessage has the same problem. I'm two days into shifting from a Windows to a Mac and I'm already doubting the decision.

 

I'm going through the other queries and they are also similar to mine. Could it be that there is something wrong with the new EL Capitan update???? Help and steps to fix this in a layman's language would be highly appreciated.
