Q: gps not working properly after iOS 9.3 update

Hi all.

After updating to iOS 9.3 my GPS cannot find my exact location. It keeps telling me I am in a big area, (Triangulating) seems like it does not activate the GPS.

Sometimes very little it works and give me the correct position, but 97% of the time its not working. Anyone else with the same problem?

Besides that: A hot phone & bad WIFI

Welp... way out of warranty, so they offered to replace at $299.

I ordered an $8 kit online so I could get the correct screwdrivers to open the phone. I want to see if there's a part or connector that I can reseat.  If that fails, then I'll be taking Apple up on their offer.

Funny enough, they offered to buy  back the phone if it is in "good condition".  I'm telling you the thing is broken, but if that's "good enough", then hey... cut the check.

Having the same issue.  I did the soft re-boot and the factory re-install. Still having problems. Will go to the Genius Bar next I guess.  Am posting this really just so that Apple will see that lots of people are having this "no GPS" problem.

I recommend you to contact apple support via online, and choose the option for them to call you. It will be still available even though your iphone is out of warranty( by clicking the exception after 9.3 upgrade)

    Contact Apple Support

I did this , and someone from apple contact me to get more details data.

More people complain, i hope that apple will take care of this problem faster.

I address this issue and complain on the forum to the apple support that i contacted.

But he told me that there's no significant complain regarding this issue yet.

Posting in this forum only, will not make apple aware of these issues.

Same here. Finds general location initially upon map boot up (sometimes), but then loses it and all compass function when you start navigation. Maps just freeze. Also, compass is all jacked up (says I was going northeast when I was headed south). Waze won't even launch b/c it keep routing me to location services (which is turned on). It this a software issue or what? Either way, not having maps navigation is like going back to the 1880's. I actually had to plan my route and listen to my instinctual carrier pigeon inner-ear to decipher north and south. Felt like Louis and Clark trying to navigate around Dallas today.

Couple of days back, bought a brand new IPhone 6S Plus.

IOS 9.3.1 was updated when connected first time to Wifi.

Gps is not working at all. It's says cannot start navigation. And it's not showing my location correctly.

Please help. Or have I made a mistake buying IPhone ?

Don't worry, it's probably a software issue related to iOS 9.3.

After the next software update, it's probably fixed.

You should be afraid. This problem persists since 9.2 update (in December). Apple has no comments regarding this issue so far. I have no GPS for the last 5 months already and it seems that nobody cares.

You could visit an Apple Genius Bar, that would force Apple to solve the problem for you.

Sorry to say its not software. I too thought this.

the module for gps is damaged, but not "out".

coincidence lays where it starts with the update.

DIagnostics run by them will not populate the module failure cause its still functioning and their tests are based on running or not running, not damaged but running still.

they need to swap the phone

no location at all may be another story, the above is for wrong location only

    Hi

I solved mine by draining completely the battery and letting the phone off a whole night. I put it  to charge in the morning and everything was back since this morning ( since 8 hours)  WIFi GPS .. Last time I tried this but I let the phone off only 5 minutes it worked for one hour..

    Wait and see...

    I'm having the same issue...

    - Reset Factory Settings: Didn't fix issue

    - Calibrated Compass: Didn't fix issue

    - Restored iPhone as iCloud Backup: Didn't fix issue

    - Restored iPhone with new install 9.3.1: Didn't fix issue

Went to the apple store today and ran a diagnostics test which came back all fine. I did a fresh install at the Apple store (no iCloud backup) with 9.3.1. He said he was aware of the issue and fixed a customers phone by doing this. Needless to say, the GPS issue wasn't fix.

I'm trying to find an install of 9.2.1 to revert back to now. I'll keep you all posted once I do.
