According to How to use QuickTime Player - Apple Support I can Trim a quicktime movie. However, for ALL the movies I want to trim, my edit menu in QuickTime Player is all greyed out. I just want to adjust the start and end time on my movie, that's all.

Hey Tim have you resolved this issue? I'm having the same problem on El Capitan when attempting to trim on Quicktime. I'm unable to do so and Quicktime crashes continuously. Hope helpful replies are posted soon.
No, I ended up using a different program to do it (just found something on the apple app store). Can't figure out why this no longer works in built-in Quicktime.
What app are you now using to trim? I would like to try it out since Quicktime has been so dreadfully unsuccessful. Thanks
