Q: After updating to iOS 9.3 push mail not working on any account

I have an iPhone 6S Plus.  I updated to iOS 9.3 and now none of my email (gmail, work email, outlook.com) push is working.  I have to periodically go in and and click on mail and let it retrieve it (like if it was on battery saver mode).

I have restarted the phone, I have uninstalled and reinstalled some of the mail accounts.  No luck.

Anyone else out there have this issue?  Any fixes that do not include a restore?

Anytime Apple says "restore your device" or "exchange your device" that is the most B.S. response ever and is the last option, not the first.

Also, Apple, if you read this, I would appreciate a battery that works above 40 degrees.  Samsung works well below freezing but the iPhone shuts off and asks to get plugged in because it is too cold below 40 degrees.  Your response to my issue was "our batteries are rated to work only above 32 degrees".  Engineering fail.

Gmail is one of the few that don't offer push. Yahoo still offers it and of coarse iCloud still does. This issue for me is with all accounts that I know support push email.

Same issue that spontaneously arose. I got a new iPhone 6s on March 28, upgraded to iOS 9.3.1 within a day or so after and have had no issues with emails being pushed to my phone until this weekend when it just randomly stopped.  For those of you who have gotten it to work again, what did you do? Is this an iOS issue or a device issue?

I had the same issue with Exchange and Hotmail. The iOS is 9.3.1.

I did the hard reboot  (by using power and home buttons) and the issue is gone.

Just for information, I'm not experiencing any problems at all with my iPhone 6s with push on my Exchange account. It is pushing just fine. I would almost say too good. Sometimes I'd like to get a break!

    POP does not support Push.

I'm having the same issue on my iPhone 6 running 9.3.1

The only things you guys haven't mentioned yet that I've figured out about this issue is that I can get my phone to start fetching my gmail again if I reboot it, then always leave the mail app open long enough for the network activity indicator on my phone to stop spinning.

The problem will eventually come back, but rebooting my phone has been an okay work-around in the meantime. Adding and removing the account is about as effective as rebooting the phone, in my case.

Oddly enough if I toggle airplane mode it works for a small time.

Gmail no longer supports push for the iOS mail app. You must use Google's app if you want the notifications you enjoyed previously with Gmail accounts.

To be honest, I'm not aware of an IMAP account that pushes either. Of course, that could be because I don't use more than one IMAP account and then my Exchange account. My IMAP account requires me to fetch.

UPDATE: I have been tweeting with Yahoo Customer Care, which I belived I mentioned before. Anyway, their responses (when they responded) were of no help. Another Yahoo user saw my tweet and offered a suggestion that worked for her.  Switch your mail to Fetch for two days and then back to Push.  So, I tried her suggestion (why not? I had tried almost everything else...airplane mode, hard re-set, deleting Yahoo mail client, etc.) I switched back on Push last night.  I shut my phone down after to "re-set" it (this step may not have been necessary) but today they seem to be Pushing.  I will say it started kind of slow, like the server was backed up, because I would get a notification and some emails would be from 40 mins ago.  But as the day went on it seemed to catch up.

HOPEFULLY this will continue to work!!!  And maybe this will help someone else.

I'm having the exact same problem with my new iPad Pro on 9.3.1.  Never had a moment's trouble with my old iPad's email.  But my iPad Pro will not push emails, notify me, or fetch.  I have to open email manually.  I have only a me.com email address.  I have had about a dozen telephone conversations with Apple Care, and I have been to Genius at the local Apple store three times.  The first time Genius restored my iPad.  The second time Genius reset my email address.  This last time Genius wiped my iPad yet again and reset to new iPad.  I have read every forum I can find about this problem and tried all the crazy suggested "fixes" (which sometimes turn out to be not so crazy).  No joy.  No Apple employee has mentioned that it is an Apple issue, but I think they must know it is.  I am at a complete loss as to what to do now.

I Am still having this issue with my new iPad Pro and have basically given up at this point. I hope it is fixed on the next update. I too have been on the phone several times with Apple care with no fix. Tried everything. I do not think it is a hardware problem and hope Apple knows this is an issue.

Thanks, Jesafefon.  It may not last, but I have tried your suggestion, and for the first time since I purchased my iPad Pro on April 11, 2016, my email is working.  Now it has only been working for two days.  I will try to let you know if it lasts.  Here is what I noticed after reading your suggestion.  My spinning wheel at the top of my email app didn't keep spinning, but when I pulled down the inbox with my finger, the wheel in the inbox wouldn't stop spinning.  I powered off my iPad overnight and then powered it back on the next morning.  When I opened my email inbox, its wheel wasn't spinning for the first time.  The key seems to be to keep my email app open all the time.  I never close it, and the wheel hasn't started spinning again, and it works.
