Q: hide unwanted updates in app store

I've continually got 5 updates nagging me in the App Store - RAW updates for cameras I will never own and the latest iMovie and iWork offerings that I don't want.

There must surely be a simple way to hide these unwanted updates and to turn off the constant notifications and nags about these updates…

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

    This is most odd …

I was on an Admin account. I created another Admin account, logged in and opened the App Store. It's the same version and shows the same 5 Apps with updates available. Once again, right-clicking, or more specifically two-finger clicking produced no results.

I opened System Preferences > Trackpad and found the new account has facility for 2-finger clicking only, not 2-finger tapping. Neither 2-finger clicking, 2-finger tapping nor actually right-clicking has any effect in the App Store Update tab.

I logged out from this 2nd Admin account and into my original Admin account. Upon opening System Preferences > Trackpad, I note that this account has the option of 2-finger clicking.

1st picture shows trackpad options with the new Admin account

2nd picture shows Trackpad options that I've always had with my original Admin account

These clicking/tapping variations are a separate issue from my original quest of merely trying to hide the unwanted updates within the App Store and turn off the persistent nagging notifications about these updates.

are you using a trackpad or a mouse? if mouse what make/model?

is there a mouse you can plug in if you're using the pad?

I have an MS mouse and replaced with magic mouse II, and after a few hours with it and fighting those preferences I went back to the MS mouse, there are things I need my MM to do with some 3rd software I use and despite the videos on how to enable it both apple and youtube it seems to have a mind of it's own.

FWIW, My settings are the same in OSX 10.11.4 as your second picture.

Did you ever have third-party gesture software installed such as BetterTouchTool or MagicPrefs, etc.?

Do you have a Wacom tablet installed?

It's a standard MacBook Pro trackpad. A single 2-finger tap always works where a conventional right-click is needed - except in this instance in the App Store Update tab where no amount of right-clicking, 2-finger clicking or 2-finger tapping has any effect

I have this same issue. I am on 10.11.4 (need to update profile) with App Store build 462.9 (same version, 2.1). I have updates for iMovie and iPhotos on a work computer where I have no interest in these updates. Right-clicking until I have carpal tunnel syndrome brings up no hidden "hide" button. You can hide the purchased items in the Purchase tab of the App Store with a right-click but they still appear in Updates. I see this on two different computers with admin accounts. Thankfully, I get no nag notifications for these updates.

I'm on admin account and right clicking anywhere including white space and the button has zero effect.
