I got it working... with some trial and error apple has a built in device drivers for thier USB to Ethernet adapter... (I did not know they sold one) It works great... I am using me iPad with the device in Airplane mode... There does not seem to be a place for the IP settings so it will only use DHCP
You just need for following hardware
- iPad with a lighting connector (only tried a IPad AIr and 6s+ so far)
- Lighting to USB 3 Connector (http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MK0W2/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter?fnode= 37)
- Apple USB to Ethernet (http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MC704LL/A/apple-usb-ethernet-adapter)
- Any Lighting Cable
Just plug in the Lighting Cable to the Lighting to USB 3 then plug the USB to Ethernet to the Lighting to USB 3 and plug that into the iPad... Turn on Airplane mode or turn off wifi and you are good to go...
Issues:
- No settings for Ethernet available so you have no way of setting the IP or any advanced settings
- A lot of apps think the internet is not available. So they popup a turn off airplane mode
- the cable is bulky... I will be trying a lighting extension cable that I found on amazon...
- The guys at the apple store and the twitter don't know anything about this
