Q: iPhoto Library is gone from El Capitan

I updated to El Capitan and have the new Photos app.  Works nicely with streaming from my devices.  However, my entire iPhoto library is gone.  I had to get a new hard drive but had backed everything up with Time Machine to my WD My Book.  We spent the entire time at the Apple store transferring My Book to the new Mac Mini hard drive.  I also have a new back up hard drive as the MyBook was pretty old and nearly full.  I get home and iphoto  app is there but no pictures.  Should I connect the MyBook up again and try to move them onto Mini hard drive again?

Thank you.

Unless you put the iPhoto library in a different location on the old Mac it should be in your Home/Pictures folder.  Did you look in that folder for the library. Try restoring the library from Time Machine as follows:

Once it's restore you can open it with the new Photos app and migrate it to Photos if that's what you want to do.

Well even tho I sat at the Apple Store for 3 hours lead by Apple Genius supposedly transferring all my data from the old WD MyBook to the new Seagate back up, nothing backed up to the new one.  Nothing is there.  No photos in the iPhoto library, nor any of my documents etc.  I guess I'll have to hook up the old WD again and try it again.  Your reply was very helpful as I will need it when I finally get the back up going. Discouraging that I spent all that time and nothing is there.  Thank you!
